Established more than 30 years ago, the Department of Family and Community Medicine has offered a fellowship to prepare family physicians for a career in academic medicine including knowledge and skills in research and scholarship, clinical epidemiology and evidence-based practice, teaching and learning strategies, and leadership.
The fellowship is a 15 month longitudinal program designed for physicians pursuing impactful academic careers. Through immersive in person workshops, structured curricula, advising and mentorship, and a supportive peer cohort, fellows develop skills in medical education, scholarship, leadership, quality improvement, and clinical administration. Participants develop longitudinal projects and scholarship according to their goals and interests, culminating in meaningful scholarly and teaching products that support academic promotion and long term success.
