Our orthopaedic surgeons are devoted to caring for patients with all injuries and diseases of the musculoskeletal system. Our specialists advance medicine by discovering better treatments and training the next generation of physicians. We are a collaborator in the University of Missouri’s Thompson Laboratory for Regenerative Orthopaedics, exploring new methods to treat the most important musculoskeletal diseases and injuries.

Our department has experienced exceptional growth in recent years. MU is home to the Missouri Orthopaedic Institute, a freestanding orthopaedic hospital. To meet growing patient needs, a $40 million, four-story expansion of the Missouri Orthopaedic Institute was completed in 2017. The expansion has increased clinical space from approximately 114,000 to almost 200,000 square feet.

We have more than 40 dedicated faculty participating in resident and fellow education and the orthopaedic institute alone houses more than 400 staff members. We have a dedicated medical education team that guides learners — medical students, resident physicians and fellows — and a knowledgeable research team that assists learners with scholarly opportunities.

All of these resources have put us at the forefront of orthopaedic treatments and medical education. By joining one of our medical education programs, you will be able to experience the education and innovation firsthand.
