Why I chose MU: As a resident here, I saw firsthand the excellent care our patients with epilepsy and neuromuscular conditions received. With my goal of becoming a general neurologist, well-trained in both EEG and EMG, this program was an easy choice. If offers a balances 50/50 split between the two disciplines, along with flexible electives that can be tailored to your interests. The faculty are outstanding educators, supportive mentors, and their numbers continue to grow.

Career Plans/Interests: To be a general neurologist in rural Missouri while continuing to teach and educate medical students and residents.

Why I chose MU: Dr. Adnan I. Qureshi and Dr. Camilo Gomez, MU's esteemed faculty for Neuro-Endovascular Intervention and Stroke, were the primary draws from coming to MU. Additionally, Columbia where MU is located, is one of the best cities in which to raise a family because it has excellent public schools and a wealth of outdoor activities, so it was a win-win situation.

Additionally, I plan to progress in my career in the United States Army from Captain to the next level; so that I can serve the nation with more skills and capabilities.

Why I Chose MU: I chose MU because of its diverse and seasoned faculty who have devised a specialized curriculum on diverse neurological pathologies from neurosurgery, vascular/stroke, neurology, trauma, and secondary critical care injuries. Columbia has that small town footprint with large city vibes, miles of trails for riding and hiking with my family, and generous mid-west feel. There is no doubt the magnitude for clinical experience and balanced growth for my young family.

Why I chose MU: MU holds a special place. Since my experience here as an observer I had an opportunity to work in a supportive community, strong camaraderie, and nurturing atmosphere for personal growth and fostering effective patient care, which brought me back here as a vascular neurology fellow. Mizzou offers an exceptional blend of high quality stroke care, a nationally recognized program, excellence, and mentorship from great leaders in the field of vascular neurology, which provides an ideal environment to develop into an outstanding vascular neurologist, clinically as well as a colleague and mentor.
