Elly Ranum, MD

Bio

I was raised in Waunakee, a suburb of Madison Wisconsin. I have a biology degree from UW-Madison (Go Badgers!) and I earned my MD from the UW-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health in 2020. During my senior year before medical school, I worked as an in-home and in-clinic ABA direct service provider. This experience, along with my medical school clerkships, drew me to the field of Pediatrics and ultimately to the field of Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics.

My Pediatrics residency at the University of Missouri provided me with the outstanding opportunity to spend time at the Thompson Center. Here, I was exposed to an amazing interprofessional environment as well as the incredible resources available at our center.  Ultimately, it was an easy decision to stay at the Thompson Center for my fellowship which I began in July 2023.

Katie Blount, DO

Bio

After completing pediatric residency at Mizzou in 2018, Katie practiced in Jefferson City, MO, starting what she thought would be a career in general pediatrics.  While she loved general pediatrics, she began finding that she wished she knew and could do more for some of her most challenging patients.  This was the same time that Mizzou announced it was starting a fellowship in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics.  In January 2023, Katie started as the program’s first fellow.

Katie was born and raised in mid-Missouri and grew up cheering for the Tigers.  She attended undergraduate and graduate school at Mizzou and then moved to Des Moines for medical school before returning to Mizzou for residency.  She and her husband Lucas (also a physician) enjoy the wonderful culture of culinary, fine arts, outdoor activities, and college sports in Columbia.  They are now getting to share their love of Columbia and Mizzou with their two children, Charlee and Teddy.  Saturday mornings at the Farmer’s Market and park are a favorite family outing.  Even Lando, the family’s Australian Shepard gets to join on the trails and the frisbee golf course.

Katie loves that DBP optimizes the opportunities for advocacy and leadership.  As the Legislative and Advocacy Chair for the Missouri Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, she appreciates Columbia’s proximity to Jefferson City for advocacy opportunities.   She has an interest in early childhood and in optimizing the school experience for her patients and the children in Missouri.
