Serving the greater Missouri area, the Boone/Callaway Medical Examiner's Office is responsible for the investigation of all deaths which occur as a result of unusual or suspicious circumstances, as well as certain deaths that fall under its jurisdiction.

The office is housed within the Department of Pathology and Anatomical Sciences in the University of Missouri’s School of Medicine and provides comprehensive death investigation services to our community. As an independent entity, we stand alone from governing agencies such as law enforcement and legal offices.
Our certified Forensic Investigators independently conduct scene investigations of death under our jurisdiction. Medical Examiners in our office are forensic pathologists who conduct expert examinations to determine cause of death. They also provide testimony in court as necessary.
