In patient consultations are seen in all University Health Care affiliated hospitals. Fellows play a major role in patient care and also in teaching house staff and students. Consultative teaching rounds are made daily with the attending faculty, fellows, house staff and students. A close working relationship is also maintained with the Department of Pediatrics so that fellows become experienced with the endocrine and metabolic problems found in patients in this age group.
Endocrine, Diabetes and Metabolic outpatient clinics are held at the Cosmopolitan Diabetes and Endocrinology Clinic, Ellis Fischel Cancer Center and the VA Hospital. There are specialty clinics in osteoporosis, thyroid ultrasound, fine needle aspiration, as well as general Endocrine and Diabetes Clinics. Fellows have an active responsibility for the delivery of continuing outpatient care. Close supervision of the clinics is provided by all attending faculty.
