The Thompson Lab for Regenerative Orthopaedics has received such generous and strong support from so many donors over the years, and we sincerely thank each and every one of you for making our work possible.

We hope that you feel a part of all we have done, take pride in the results, and feel like our many discoveries and clinical applications are a strong return on investment.

Thanks to the exceptional generosity and support for our vision and mission from Bill & Nancy Thompson, The Thompson Laboratory for Regenerative Orthopaedics was born in 2016, which is a ~12,000-square-foot world-class state-of-the-art facility dedicated to basic science, translational, and clinical research and housed in our full-service orthopaedic hospital – The Missouri Orthopaedic Institute – where scientists and surgeons work together in the same facility to solve real life orthopaedic problems in order to improve our patients’ lives. This is the first-and-only center of its kind – only at Mizzou.

Endowments

Gordon Family Endowment for Arthritis Research

An endowed fund has been established in memory of Robert, Frances, and David Gordon and Sally Brallier in support of the work of the TLRO. All donations directed toward the Robert B. Gordon Arthritis Research Fellowship and a portion of non-directed donations to the TLRO will be added to this endowment. The Gordon Family Endowment will continue to fund the Robert B. Gordon Arthritis Research Fellowship, research in arthritis, and personnel working in arthritis research in the TLRO.

William & Kathryn Allen Endowment for Research in Orthopaedics

An endowed fund has been established by Dr. William and Mrs. Kathryn Allen. Dr. and Mrs. Allen have been a tremendous source of support for the TLRO from our inception, and established this fund in further support of our work. The funds from this endowment will support all of the research in the TLRO, with resident research always maintaining a high priority. This endowment also provides for Dr. Cook as the first William & Kathryn Allen Distinguished Chair in Orthopaedic Surgery.

Unfortunately, we lost Dr. Allen in September 2016. Dr. Allen was an international icon in sports medicine, a legend at Mizzou Orthopaedics, and a kind, gentle, caring, and generous family man who definitely changed many lives for the better. The Laboratory and our Director, Dr. Cook, would not be where we are without the support of Dr. & Mrs. Allen. It was incredibly humbling and inspiring for us to have Mrs. Allen request donations in Dr. Allen’s memory be made to this endowment and wonderful to see that the responses to this request immediately took the endowment to the level of chair. Dr. Cook is so proud to represent the Allen family and legacy each and every day at Mizzou.

Bob and Judi Reeves Endowment for Arthritis Diagnostics

Bob and Judi Reeves have established an endowed fund in support of the work of the TLRO. This extremely generous donation is directed toward our work in early diagnosis of arthritis, and will support personnel, equipment, and research in this area. Bob and Judi have been tremendous supporters of our work, philosophically and financially, since the laboratory started, and this endowment is a tremendous, lasting boost for us. We are extremely grateful and believe that this support will greatly advance our work in early diagnosis of arthritis such that prevention and cure will someday be possible.

Littlejohn Family Endowment

The Littlejohn family has set up an endowment to provide dedicated resources for our annual Comparative Orthopaedics Day. Their wonderful support of our program allows us to bring in world-renowned leaders in orthopaedics as our keynote speakers and put on a world-class event each and every year.

Cristi & Jimi Cook Orthopaedic Research Endowment

Drs. Cristi and Jimi Cook have established an endowment to provide support for research for the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in the School of Medicine. This fund is focused on supporting projects and personnel in the area of One Health – One Medicine.
