Members of the University of Missouri Ellis Fischel Cancer Center Community Advisory Board recently helped serve food to more than 300 people at the annual City of Columbia Juneteenth Community Luncheon at Douglass Park.
Advisory members in attendance included Mizzou School of Medicine faculty Kevin Everett, PhD, and Gregory Biedermann, MD, Neely Current, Ellis Fischel Cancer Center program support coordinator, Nicole Black, behavioral health consultant, Nikki Leake, associate director of the American Cancer Society, and Reverend James Gray.
The luncheon was a part of Juneteenth celebratory events at Douglass Park and Cosmo Park. The events brought together families, community organizations and local leaders to honor freedom, history and unity.
