The third annual Mizzou Musculoskeletal Research Symposium was incredibly successful! This year, the symposium included more than 25 presenters from institutions nationwide including the University of Pittsburgh, Washington University in St Louis, UCLA, and the University of Missouri – Columbia.

Keynote address was provided by Dr. Stephen Badylak of the University of Pittsburgh (Acellular Approach to Skeletal Muscle Regeneration: Clinical Translation). The focus of Dr. Badylak’s work has been on the mechanisms by which the extracellular matrix signals host tissues to promote and support functional tissue reconstruction.

This year’s award recipients are:

The symposium was planned and organized by postdoctoral fellows in the Mizzou Musculoskeletal Research Training Program. The primary objective of the postdoctoral training program is to expand and enhance the biomedical scientist workforce to enhance foundational training and productivity and accelerate discoveries and breakthroughs positively influencing outcomes for millions of individuals suffering from musculoskeletal disorders. The program is led by Dr. Dana Duren (Director), Drs. James Cook and Richard Sherwood (Co-Directors), and Dr. Lisa Royse (Program Manager).
